Wanda Savasuk, of Winslow, went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine. She was born on May 20, 1926, at 23 Charland Street in Winslow, Maine where she resided for over 70 years. She is the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kraska) Savasuk. Wanda graduated from Winslow High School, class of 1945. She also graduated from Wayne School in Chicago, Illinois, where she majored in studies as a dental assistant. For 23 years, she was employed as an assistant for Albert Piper, D.D.S. She was also employed at Scott Paper Company in Winslow. Wanda was a member of the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Waterville. She was involved in all church activities throughout her life. She enjoyed knitting, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Fred, Chester, and Fernand Fatty Savasuk. She is survived by her brother, Theodore Savasuk of Port Orange, Florida; Kurt Savasuk who was like a son to her and his wife, Sharon of Clinton; Tanya LaCroix who was like a granddaughter to her and her husband, Wayne and their children, Olivia and Alena who she thought of as great-grandchildren of Vassalboro; David Savasuk who was like a grandson to her, and his daughter Illiana; her life long friends, Bunny Swift of Zephyrhills, Florida, Lorraine Bowdoin of Winslow, and Ann Williamson of Fairfield; as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street, Fairfield, Maine with the Rev. Michael Alix officiating.
