Fairfield, Maine--Hildred E. (Jones) Wheeler, 85, of Fairfield, Maine entered into eternal peace with the Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2013, with her husband and daughter by her side at Mt. St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville, Maine. Hilda was born in Fairfield, Maine on October 2, 1928, the daughter of John O. Jones and Lillian (Carleton) Jones. She attended Fairfield schools. Hilda was a wonderful homemaker and a great cook! She drove charter runs for Buzzell’s Bus Service in Benton, Maine, part-time. She also helped take care of Shady Acres Trailer Park that her and her husband owned and operated for years. Hilda loved her family and always put their needs first. She was a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother to her daughter. Hilda and her family loved to travel and sight- see. They took many trips together, but one of the best was when they drove to California and back to Maine in a truck-camper! Hilda was predeceased by her parents, John O. Jones and Lillian (Carleton) Jones; her brothers, Dana Jones, Douglas Jones, Lawrence Jones, and Stanley Jones; her sister, Avis (Jones) Potter; and her favorite uncle, Ernie Jones who raised her after the passing of her parents. Hilda is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, Orman “Jim” W. Wheeler; her only daughter, Tonia M. Wentworth, of Fairfield, Maine; son-in-law, John E. Wentworth II, of Fairfield, Maine; and her granddaughters, Kaylee & Saydee Wentworth, of Fairfield, Maine. Hilda also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews who she loved dearly. A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2014 at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, Maine, for family and friends. Our family would like to thank the staff at Mt. St. Joseph in Waterville for their compassion and care of our loved one in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
