Whitefield, Maine-Ila M. Guiou, of Whitefield, Maine, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, after a brief illness, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She was born in Whitefield, Maine on May 8, 1926, the daughter of the late Levi and Lottie (Peaslee) Brann. She attended Whitefield schools, graduating from Erskine Academy. She went to the Central Maine General School of Nursing in Lewiston, Maine, graduating in 1948, as a Registered Nurse. She was employed by Central Maine General Hospital until 1952, when she married Merrill Turner. Later, she was employed by the Veterans Hospital at Togus as head nurse retiring in 1990. Merrill Turner passed away on May 8, 1967. Later, she married Clowes P. Guiou, and they lived in the same home in Whitefield, Maine. Clowes passed away on March 27, 2004. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employee’s, Kennebec Valley Chapter 0248 in Augusta, Maine, and was a devoted member of the Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta, Maine. She enjoyed gardening, feeding her ducks, turkeys, and song birds. She also loved her home and pets. She was predeceased by two brothers, Blaine Brann, and John Brann; two sisters, Hazel Estabrooks, and Myra Turner. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
